The MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Powders are one of my all-time favorite products from the collection, and I’ve been using them for years.
If you and I were at a counter, you would have asked me, “What’s your favorite, best-of-the-best, most natural-looking, most comfortable MAC powder available right now?” Several of MAC’s face powders are rock-solid performers. But MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Naturals are everything.

The MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural Hue with the most positive feedback is:
MAC x Caitlyn Jenner Compassion Mineralize Skinfinish Natural- It possesses a soft, medium-dark rose-brown color and a delicate golden pearl. Because it is in the Mineralize Skinfinish Natural family, it has significantly less shimmer and seems less metallic on the skin. But it wasn’t matte like the Mineralize Skinfinish Natural powders in the permanent line.
Its finish, luminous but not overtly shimmering on the skin, made it stand out as a unique product. It had complete coverage in a single coat and could be easily sheered out. For a Perfect Mineralize Skinfinish, Use MAC Natural Face Powder. Mac msf natural swatches It had a soft, silky consistency that was easy to mix and work with. On me, it lasted eight hours before starting to fade.
I have a combination of skin that varies between oily and dry, making me an NC42 in MAC terms. Give Me Sun is my go-to bronzer, and Medium Tan is my go-to face-setting powder.
I could go on and on about how much I adore this powder, but I’ll try to keep it brief (yeah, right, Amanda) since otherwise, we’d be here till the following Monday.
The short of it is that for casual, dewy, natural-looking skin, MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural is my go-to powder—not just from MAC.
It looks just as excellent on camera as it does in real life. I’ve worn it for everyday makeup, significant events, photographs, HD videos, daytime work meetings, dinner dates, and taking Rosie for walks. The Mineralize Skinfinish Naturals resemble loose powders rather than pressed powders when applied to the skin, unlike many pressed powder formulas.
After taking countless photographs over the years, I’ve concluded that loose powders appear softer in person and on camera than pressed powders—more like natural skin and less like makeup. MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural, however, defies that pattern. When I wear it, my skin seems smooth, evenly toned, and non-shiny (nor does it look severely matte). The powder is also not particularly apparent.
Specifications
The result reminds me of Chanel’s gorgeous loose powder, which is 1) considerably more expensive and 2) only comes in a smaller variety of colors.
A little goes a long way with the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Naturals. I’ve had mine for a year and have used it virtually daily with hardly any wear and tear. Also, it doesn’t oxidize (darken) my skin all day, maintaining the color’s accuracy and enhancing the beauty of the blend. It looks beautiful with anything I wear it with and doesn’t draw attention to any textural spots (damn those dry patches!) or cause breakouts.
I used to wear Mineralize Skinfnish Natural with MAC Face & Body all the time, but these days I like to layer it over MAC Lightful CC Cream, MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof, or Dior Diorskin Nude Air Serum. Sincerely, you can match it with anything.
But I wouldn’t recommend it if you have very oily skin because it might need to be matte enough for you. If that’s the case, I advise using MAC Blot or mixing Blot and Mineralize 50/50.
Packaging is a nuisance. The former package with the clear tops was much better because I could instantly see the color. In addition, I have trouble opening the upgraded compacts with my T-Rex claws! When I have lotion or foundation on my hands, it’s challenging to open what I believe to be a magnetic closure.
However, these are minor quibbles in the broader scheme of things. I adore MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in its entirety. It almost feels like cheating to wear it! The more I wear it, the more people comment on how great my skin looks, and I’m like, “Man! Smoke and mirrors that is. MAC Mineralize is doing all the work.
The MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural Powders are currently part of the permanent collection and are available at MAC counters, shops, and online.
